Tibetan Mastiffs

The Tibetan Mastiff is the legendary guardian dog from the Himalayas, acting as the protectors of the villages and herds of the Tibetan people, as well as of the monasteries. Being a fairly new breed to the United States (the first dogs were imported in the late 1960s), the breed was only fully recognised by the American Kennel Club in 2007. This breed, however, had been seen at UKC, ARBA, Rarities, NCA and IABCA shows.
We acquired our first TM in 2001, and began showing in ARBA shows. In 2003, we attended our first NCA show, and in 2004, our first UKC show. During these years, our guys proved to be highly competitive, with Shania earning several Best in Shows (BIS). In 2006, Shania and Alea both received invitations to the UKC Premier Top Ten Invitational. In 2007, the first year that the TM appeared in the AKC Working Group, Alea and Hotei received invitations to the Eukanuba Invitational. They were #13 and #17 in the breed. In 2008, Hotei again received an invitation to Eukanuba! Not bad, considering we stopped showing in July 2008!
